Putin to West: Any Foreign Troops in Ukraine Will Be Treated as Enemy Targets
The day after a Paris summit focused on finalizing plans for security guarantees, Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed Western suggestions to deploy a “reassurance force” in Ukraine once any ceasefire is established.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that 26 of Ukraine’s allies have officially pledged to deploy troops “by land, sea, or air” to assist in ensuring security once the fighting is stopped.
He didn’t specify which countries were involved.
Putin attempted to suppress the allies’ initiative by issuing a warning that any troops deployed to Ukraine would be considered “legitimate targets.”
He emphasized this threat particularly if such deployments occurred soon, despite there being no immediate plans for deployment.
