Agoro Kicks off 19th Edition of HOS Games
The Lagos State Government has kicked off the 19th Edition of the Head of Service (HOS) Games at the Lagos State Rehabilitation Centre, Isheri-Berger.
The HOS, Bode Agoro said the primary objectives of the HOS games were to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship, as well as promote the culture of physical fitness and mental wellness amongst Public Servants in the state.
He urged the players to play according to the rules of the game and avoid any act of indiscipline.
Agoro noted that winners in both the male and female categories would receive trophies and other gift items to mark this year’s edition, which is the 19th in the series.
He appreciated Team Public Service Office (PSO) and Team LASUTH for maintaining a high standard of play and encouraged those who are yet to participate to remain motivated.
He further revealed that the organising committee is working on a new model that will be unveiled later this year, aimed at giving the competition a fresh outlook in the coming edition.
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, who doubles as the Vice Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, said the State Government is happy that agencies are participating in the competition, stressing that the event is about sportsmanship, physical exercise and the well-being of staff.
A member of the Local Organising Committee, Mr. Richard Ogbe, said measures had been put in place to ensure that only qualified staff take part in the Games, noting that medical teams and security officers are available to ensure the safety of the players.
The first football match of the day saw Team Public Service Office, POS, beat Team LASUTH three goals to nil.
