Omo Aj’orosun Club Denies Endorsing Adekanmbi for Oyo Governorship
A socio-cultural association, Omo Aj’orosun Club, Ibadan, has denied reports claiming that it endorsed Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
In a rejoinder issued on Friday, the Club described as false and misleading a report published by an online platform with the headline, “JUST IN: Ajorosun Club Endorse Bimbo Adekanmbi.”
The association stated categorically that neither its leadership nor executives had endorsed any governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 election.
According to the statement jointly signed by the Club’s General Secretary, Otunba Saheed Makinde, and President, Mogaji Salahudeen Q. Adeniyi, any political meeting involving individual members of the Club does not represent the official position of the association.
The Club further clarified that it did not pay any political courtesy visit to Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi for the purpose of declaring support for his ambition.
“Omo Aj’orosun Club is a socio-cultural association. We are non-partisan and non-religious, hence we do not engage in partisan politics,” the statement read.
The association added that its constitution forbids the use of the Club’s name to promote political candidates or partisan interests.
The Club also urged the public, media organisations, and political stakeholders to disregard the publication, insisting that it did not emanate from the association.
It warned that it reserves the right to take necessary action against individuals or groups spreading what it described as fake news capable of dragging the Club into partisan politics.
