The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has dismissed reports circulating on social media that attempt to link him to the recent abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.

In a statement issued on behalf of the senator, the media office described the allegation as “false, malicious, baseless and politically motivated,” stressing that Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the kidnapping incident or any individual involved.

The statement noted that Senator Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, is a respected legal practitioner, traditional title holder and public servant with a longstanding reputation for peace, leadership and service to the people.

According to the statement, attempts to associate the senator with criminal activities based on unverified claims allegedly made by a suspect under investigation were irresponsible and defamatory.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the said criminal incident, the individuals mentioned, or any activity related to kidnapping or violence,” the statement said.

The media office further argued that efforts to link campaign materials or stickers bearing the senator’s image to the crime exposed what it described as a deliberate agenda by political opponents to tarnish the image of a popular political leader in Oyo State.

It also pointed out that no security agency had established any link between Senator Alli and the alleged crime, warning against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading the public and creating political tension.

While condemning kidnapping and all forms of criminality, Senator Alli reaffirmed his support for initiatives aimed at strengthening security and safeguarding lives and property across Oyo State and the country.

The statement urged members of the public to disregard the report and avoid circulating false information that could undermine ongoing security investigations.

It also called on security agencies to investigate the origin of the publication and ensure that those responsible for spreading fake news and political blackmail are brought to justice.

The senator’s media office maintained that Senator Alli remains committed to his legislative responsibilities and his vision of a safer, more prosperous and united Oyo State.
