Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has joined citizens across the country and the international community to commemorate the 2026 World Autism Awareness Day, emphasizing dignity, inclusion, and equal rights for people living with autism.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the First Lady aligned with this year’s global theme, “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,” stressing that individuals on the autism spectrum remain an integral part of society whose contributions are invaluable.

She noted that despite progress made over the years, misinformation and harmful narratives about autism still arise, urging Nigerians to remain committed to promoting understanding, acceptance, and opportunities for all.

“People living with autism are an important part of our shared humanity. Their lives, voices, and contributions enrich our communities and strengthen our collective future,” she stated.

The First Lady further called for sustained efforts toward building a society that respects the inherent dignity and rights of every individual, regardless of their neurological differences.
