The palace of the Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has dismissed circulating reports alleging a rift between the monarch and Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the monarch’s Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, the palace described the claims as false and misleading, stressing that there is no disagreement whatsoever between the Olubadan and the state government.

The statement also clarified that Oba Ladoja did not leave Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony earlier scheduled for Friday, April 3. According to the palace, the Olubadan remains in Ibadan, “hale, hearty, and performing the role expected of him.”

For clarity, the palace explained that the three High Chiefs slated for coronation had formally notified the Olubadan of their unavailability and requested a postponement of the ceremony. This information, it added, had already been communicated to the Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The palace urged the public to disregard the false reports and avoid spreading misinformation.
