Following credible intelligence about plans by bandits to attack communities in Nteng, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, Plateau State, troops of the 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) laid an ambush against the criminals as they approached the communities.

During the encounter, accompanied by an exchange of gunfire on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, troops neutralised two bandits while others fled with possible gunshot wounds as indicated by the blood stains along their withdrawal routes.

In a statement, the Media Information Officer (MIO) of the OPSH, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, said that upon exploitation of the area, troops recovered dangerous weapons and ammunition.

He said that the recovered weapons and ammunition are in the custody of troops for further action, adding that the troops are on the trail of the fleeing criminals for interception.

According to him, this latest operational success remains a testament to troops’ unrelenting fight against armed militias and other criminal elements within OPSH Joint Operations Area.

He stated that the success will be sustained through the intense fighting spirit of troops and the collaborative efforts of the public in providing actionable information to aid their operations.
