PDP, ADC hold closed-door meeting in Abuja

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are holding a closed-door stakeholders’ meeting in Apo, Abuja, at the residence of former Senate President David Mark.

The PDP confirmed the meeting in a post on its verified X account, stating that a stakeholders’ engagement between both parties was underway, with details to follow.

Images from the venue show the PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in attendance, alongside ADC representatives.

Participants at the meeting include former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition figures. The discussions are focused on possible cooperation between both parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting comes amid ongoing leadership disputes within both parties. The PDP has faced internal disagreements linked to its leadership structure and national convention processes.

The ADC is also dealing with factional disputes over its leadership. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently withdrew recognition of rival factions following a Court of Appeal judgment, leaving the party without a formally recognised leadership.

Recent political developments have seen movements of politicians between opposition parties. Some PDP members have aligned with the ADC, while others have explored alternative platforms.
