Olubadan-in-Council Nominates Ladoja As 44th Olubadan

Olubadan-in-Council have nominated a former governor of Oyo State, Oba Rasidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

OYONEWS reports that Oba Ladoja was nominated at the Council meeting held at the New Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan on Monday.

Oba Ladoja was not in attendance at the meeting which had all the beaded crown High Chiefs.

The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola moved the motion which was seconded by Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole.

Oba Ajibola, at the meeting said the name of Ladoja will be forwarded to the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for approval.

Ladoja’s nomination is coming following demise of the 43th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

OYO NEWS reports that Oba Olakulehin, who received staff of office as the 43rd Olubadan on July 12, 2024, died on July 7 2025, at the age of 90. The monarch died barely one year on the throne.

According to Ibadan Obaship system, Tribune Online learnt that Ladoja, who is the topmost chief in the Olubadan line of the Chieftaincy rung, is the next-in-line to succeed Oba Owolabi who ascended the throne in 2024 from the Military Line of the rung.
