NELFUND Reopens Student Loan Application Portal

NELFUND, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, has announced a final 48-hour reopening period to allow tertiary institutions that have not yet completed their student verification process to do so.

This information is part of a statement released to journalists in Abuja on Friday by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Director of Strategic Communications for the Fund.

Oluwatuyi announced that the portal will be open from midnight on Sunday, October 12, until midnight on Tuesday, October 14.

She explained that the extension was designed to guarantee that all eligible students are properly recorded and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 NELFUND loan application process.

Institutions are highly encouraged to take full advantage of this last opportunity.

If the verification process is not completed within the specified time frame, the institutions concerned will lose their opportunity to participate in this loan cycle.

“A situation that will unfortunately put their students, the ultimate beneficiaries of the loan scheme, at a disadvantage,” she said.

She mentioned that to ensure transparency and accountability, the names of the defaulting institutions would be made public.

Oluwatuyi reaffirmed the Fund’s dedication to promoting fair access to higher education by managing the scheme in an efficient, transparent, and inclusive manner.
