In a development that further tilts Kaduna’s political balance in favour of the ruling party, three members of the House of Representatives from the state have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors are Hussaini Ahmed (Kaduna South Federal Constituency), Aliyu Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency), and Sadiq Abdullahi (Sabon Gari Federal Constituency).

Their defection was formally announced on Tuesday during plenary after Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read their letters on the floor of the House.

The move followed the appearance of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, who was specially recognised by the lawmakers to witness the session and welcome the new APC members.

Their exit, long anticipated amid deepening cracks within the state’s PDP, is seen as a major boost for the APC’s dominance in Kaduna politics.

Ahmed described his decision as the outcome of wide consultations with his supporters, noting that the move would help attract more development to his constituency.

For Aliyu Abdullahi and Sadiq Abdullahi, their defection is viewed as part of a broader political realignment aimed at strengthening their positions ahead of the next election cycle.

Governor Sani, who witnessed the announcement, was seen exchanging warm pleasantries with the lawmakers shortly after the plenary, in what many described as a symbolic moment for the APC in Kaduna.
