A germany-based Nigerian politician and businessman, Mr. Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu on Wednesday promised to build on the legacy by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, if he steps in as his successor.

Oladimeji, whose father Hon. Olayinka, was gruesomely murdered 16 years ago (September 14, 2007), contributed in no small measure to the political growth and democratic advancement of Oyo state and Nigeria in general.

Speaking with reporters in Ibadan, Oladimeji said he has the requisite experience to govern the state.

The germany-based politician said he is willing to fight for the survival of the less privileged in society.

“My life has been shaped by profound experiences, including the loss of my father—a man who dedicated his life to serving our people. His legacy inspires me to follow in his footsteps and make a meaningful impact in our communities”.

“… my youthfulness and determination equip me to tackle the challenges ahead. I am committed to building upon the foundation laid by the current administration under our leader, Engr. Seyi Makinde”.

“With my educational background in political science and diverse professional experience in sectors like ICT, engineering, and agriculture, I am uniquely positioned to lead Oyo State into a new era of prosperity”.

Oladimeji said his time as a Political Appointee in the National Assembly, Abuja has provided him with invaluable insights, fueling his passion for effective governance.

“My vision for Oyo State is a mission- to prioritize agriculture, infrastructure, economic advancement, health, social welfare, transportation, and human capacity development. I aim to establish robust institutions that empower our people and foster independence from federal allocations”.

Profile:

Born on August 4, 1982, Hon. Olayinka Segelu Akintola Oladimeji, is the son of the late Chief Dr. Hon. Olusegun Moses Akintola Oladimeji aka Segelu, a member, Federal House of Representatives who was assassinated in his Constituency Office, Ejioku, Lagelu Local Government on September 14th, 2007.

Better known as Yseg or Olayinka Segelu, he attended Army Children’s School 3, Ibadan between 1988 and 1993 where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC).  

He proceeded to Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu, Ibadan between 1993 and 1995 where he had his Basic Education Certificate Examination (JSS Exam).

Thereafter, he proceeded to Unity School, Ejigbo, Osun State where he obtained this Senior Secondary School Certificate in 1999.

He holds a B.Sc in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Abuja and Master’s degree (Thesis stage) in Political Analysis from same University of Abuja. 

Olayinka Segelu served as a Legislative Assistant to his late father before he was killed in September 14, 2007, served as Personal Assistant to the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives 2007-2011, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Sabur Bankole and also worked as Personal Assistant to Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman from Kogi Central Senatorial District between 2011-2015. He has twice aspired for the seat of the Federal House of Representatives in 2015 and 2023, contesting in the Primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the party’s ticket. 

He is an accomplished professional with a wide range of experience in ICT, Engineering, Agriculture and management consultancy.  

Olayinka Segelu spent most of his career developing and implementing complex developmental projects in the private sector.

He has undertaken several professional courses including Data Analysis Certified by Abuja Data School, FCT, Abuja.

Olayinka Segelu is an entrepreneur and politician, dedicated to serving people and building a better future.

He is the CEO, Yseg Hotels and Suites Limited; CEO, Yseg International School; Founder, Igbega Communities Support Organisation, (ICSO), an NGO and Founder Igbega FM NIGERIA.
