The Oyo State Police Command has initiated comprehensive security protocols aimed at ensuring a secure and tranquil coronation ceremony scheduled for Friday, September 26th, 2025, which will honor His Imperial Majesty H.E (Sen) Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Police PRO, CSP Adewale Osifeso on Thursday in Ibadan.

The coronation ceremony signifies a notable cultural and historical milestone and is anticipated to draw distinguished guests and participants from around the world.

In light of the expected turnout, the Oyo State Police Command, in conjunction with relevant sister services, has perfected strategies for the execution of extensive security measures. These measures will encompass confidence-building patrols, heightened surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search initiatives across the length and breadth of the state.

The statement says special emphasis will be placed on all entry and exit points in and out of Oyo State, with particular attention directed towards the coronation venue.

“This includes public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan.”

The organizing committee, designated by the Oyo State Government, has officially communicated the impending closure of certain routes surrounding the historic Mapo Hall on the day of the coronation starting from 7:00 AM on Friday. The restricted routes from public access include:

– Beere Junction towards Mapo Hall

– Born Photo Junction towards Oja’ba

– Idi-Arere Junction towards Oja’ba

– Itamerin Junction towards Mapo Hall

In light of these alterations, the Oyo State Police Command advises the public to adjust their movement plans accordingly and to consider alternative routes to mitigate potential disruptions. Furthermore, the Command issues a stern warning against any forms of public disorder, including unauthorized processions and movements within the metropolis before, during, and after the event.

In prioritizing the safety of individuals and property during this celebration, the Oyo State Police Command implores the collaboration of the public in adhering to all directives and in fostering a peaceful atmosphere throughout this momentous occasion.

Additionally, the general public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or concerns to their nearest police station or to utilize the designated emergency contact numbers provided by the police.

The Oyo State Police Command said it anticipates a successful coronation that not only honors tradition but also showcases Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.
