2027: ADC Orders Members to Quit Other Political Parties Immediately

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a warning to its members who maintain loyalty to other political parties, urging them to resign in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

This directive was communicated by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, following a caucus meeting that included prominent party leaders and political figures.

“While a definitive order has been given for all members to terminate their affiliations with other political parties, the caucus did not specify a timeline for this action,” Abdullahi remarked.

Additionally, the caucus confirmed that all matters related to the African Democratic Association (ADA) have been resolved.

“The Coalition has concluded all discussions regarding the ADA, indicating that they are no longer interested in the registration or any other aspects of the association,” he further explained.

Regarding the 2027 elections, the party’s spokesperson indicated that the ADC’s presidential candidates have collectively agreed to support the individual who wins the primary election.

“All presidential aspirants have consented to back the candidate who emerges victorious in the primary election,” he stated.

He also disclosed that the National Working Committee (NWC) will soon announce the dates for the primaries in Osun and Ekiti, in anticipation of the off-cycle gubernatorial elections in those states.

Attendees of the meeting included National Chairman David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf, former Kaduna State governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, former Sokoto State governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal, and former Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi.

Peter Obi, the National Leader of the Labour Party, was not present but sent his apologies and reiterated his commitment to the coalition.
