Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has felicitated the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri, on his re-election as the governor of the state, describing the victory as heart-warming for all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Makinde stated this on Tuesday, following the announcement of Governor Diri as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.
The governor congratulated his colleague, Diri, the PDP family in Bayelsa and the people of the state, adding that the governor would be able to consolidate on the good development his administration had put in place in the state since he first assumed office almost four years ago.
Governor Makinde equally commended the Bayelsa electorate on their peaceful conduct before, during and after the poll.
He said: “I congratulate my brother and governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Governor Duoye Diri, on his re-election as governor of the state for another term of four years.
“This victory is heart-warming for us in the PDP and it is a testament to the fact that our party remains a credible platform with people-oriented leaders, who always put their people first.
“I commend the great people of Bayelsa State for retaining Bayelsa in the PDP by re-electing Governor Diri and also for their peaceful conduct before, during and after the poll.”
Recall that Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, met with the leadership of the Yoruba community in Bayelsa state at the State’s capital Yenagoa, to solicit support for the second term in office of Governor Duoye Diri.
The Yoruba community leaders were led to the meeting by the former Honorable representing Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Olasupo.
