The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over what it described as an unprovoked attack by the ADC’s interim spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, insisting that the PDP remains the only viable political force capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said Abdullahi’s televised criticism of the PDP was not only reckless but also a distraction from the real national issues facing the country under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.

The party also declared that it has more than enough presidential personalities with clear records of achievement and capacity to defeat President Tinubu at any time, adding that its focus remains on building a broad-based movement to “rescue Nigeria from APC’s misrule. Nigerian Airways plane models

Describing Abdullahi as a “former image-maker of the deceitful and failed APC,” the PDP accused him of misusing the ADC platform to launch attacks on the main opposition party, rather than focusing on pressing governance failures under Tinubu’s leadership.

It is rather unfortunate that the APC-indoctrinated Abdullahi is apparently unhappy that the PDP is building momentum against the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement read. “The PDP will not descend to join issues with the ADC or any other opposition party in the country.”

Ologunagba dismissed concerns over recent defections from the PDP, asserting that “Nigerians, who are the real organic strength of the PDP, are still standing shoulder to shoulder with our party.”

He added that the PDP’s national reach, institutional structure, and track record make it the only credible platform to oust the APC at the next general election.

Ologunagba reaffirmed the PDP’s openness to alliances with like-minded individuals and groups ahead of 2027, emphasising a collective mission to “install a people-oriented government” through a democratic transition.
