“Was Judas, who sold Jesus, an Igbo man?” — Onyi Alex slams Igbo elites 

Nollywood actress Onyi Alex has criticised certain Igbo figures over political alignment and insecurity in the South-East, invoking a biblical metaphor to express her frustration.

In a post shared on her Instagram story, she wrote: “Are you sure “Judas” wey sell Jesus no be Igbo man?? It’s funny how we Igbos can no longer travel safe to our villages., Even the rich now use private jets because road isn’t safe yet they are standing on a failed mandate. Oga Igbo as you Dey sell your brother, the buyer no go still trust you.”

Although she did not mention any individual by name. Her comments centred on insecurity in the South-East, especially concerns that many residents can no longer travel freely to their hometowns due to safety fears.

Her statement came after celebrity barman and socialite Cubana Chief Priest publicly defended Igbo support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Cubana Chief Priest argued that backing Tinubu should not be considered betrayal.

He questioned why an Igbo man supporting Tinubu would face criticism, while a Yoruba man supporting Peter Obi would not attract similar reactions. He urged Igbos to move beyond tribal sentiments and align with political power for strategic reasons.

He stated that Tinubu supported former President Muhammadu Buhari for eight years before becoming president, describing that period as evidence of political patience and structure. According to him, aligning with an established political system offers better opportunities for inclusion and long-term planning.

He also argued that protests and agitation had not produced significant change, adding that it is “better to be inside than outside”. His post concluded with a call for followers to join a pro-Tinubu movement.

Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, is a nightlife entrepreneur and social media personality. He gained prominence as the general manager of the Cubana Group and remains influential in Nigeria’s entertainment and hospitality circles.
