
VP Shettima Leaves Abuja For 80th UNGA In New York
Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The event is scheduled to take place in New York, United States of America, from Monday, September 22nd to Sunday, September 28th
Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the President in the Office of the Vice President, revealed this information in a statement released on Sunday.
At the global event, acting on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima will present Nigeria’s national statement and participate alongside other dignitaries in the UN high-level general debates and various side events.
He will also unveil Nigeria’s new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement at this year’s UN special event on climate change.

Nkwocha announced that the Vice President will participate in a special climate-focused event for Heads of State and Government, hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday.

Shettima is scheduled to participate in the high-level roundtable of the Global Champions on Adequate and Affordable Housing, hosted by Kenya’s President on September 24. He will also engage in other bilateral meetings and events during his visit.
After participating in the UN General Assembly, the Vice President will travel to Frankfurt, Germany. There, he is scheduled to meet with Deutsche Bank officials before heading back to Nigeria.
