Barely 24 hours after he was announced as the new Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has been decorated by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House with his new rank.
The ceremony, which took place at 1 pm, had in attendance National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and the immediate past IGP, Usman Alkali.
Recall that the acting IGP before his appointment by President Bola Tinubu on Monday was a Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG.
Before his decoration, the acting IGP was at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to see off President Tinubu, who departed the country to attend a Summit on a new global financial pact in Paris, France.
Among his previous appointments, the new acting IGP had served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
Speaking on his new appointment, Egbetokun said he looked forward to working as the new Inspector-General of Police. OYO NEWS
