
Tinubu’s repositioning of police yielding results, says NPTF boss
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, on Wednesday stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to reposition the police force to combat crime and insecurity in the country are yielding results.
Shiedu stated this during the commissioning of the Smart Divisional Police Headquarters in Ekirin Ade, Kogi State.
He expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to reforming and repositioning the force.
He maintained that under his leadership, security has remained a central pillar of national development, adding that the impact is visible in projects like this one.
He also recognised and commended the visionary leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and his focus on community-based and technology-driven policing, noting that it will continue to provide the foundation for our infrastructure and operational Interventions.
“Let me also take a moment to specially acknowledge the leadership and support of Governor Ahmed Ododo, noting that his administration’s openness to collaboration and unwavering commitment to security and community development have
played a crucial role in making this project a reality,” he said.
According to the executive secretary, strategic guidance and partnership with the NPTF have made “our work not only easier but also more impactful,” adding that the communities around will benefit from it.
He maintained that the infrastructure was designed not only to strengthen police presence in Ekirin Ade but also to enhance public trust, operational capacity and officer welfare.
He said, “It will improve quick response, deepen community engagement, and serve as a deterrent to criminal activities in the region.
“We are optimistic that this smart facility will become a centre of excellence in police service delivery for the people of Ekirin Ade and surrounding communities.
“We commend the contractor for delivering this project in line with our standards and expectations, and at the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, we insist on quality, transparency, and timely execution because every naira spent must translate to safety, professionalism and public confidence.
“To the officers who will serve, here is your station, but it is the people’s facility. Please treat it with pride and let your presence here inspire trust, not fear, and be worthy of the public’s respect and responsive to their needs.
“To the host community, protect and preserve this facility so that it continues to serve you for generations to come, because this project belongs to you, support your police and engage them constructively.
“Your safety and well-being are paramount, and as someone who shares this community with you, I am personally committed
to seeing this facility empower a safer and more secure environment for all of us.”
