Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation of Udeh As Minister

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, from Enugu State, as the new Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology.

The appointment comes after the recent resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji from the same position.

In a letter sent to the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, the President has requested lawmakers to confirm Dr. Ude’s appointment in line with constitutional requirements. Dr. Ude currently serves as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State.

In another development, President Tinubu has also written to the Senate seeking approval for a fresh ₦1.15 trillion borrowing from the domestic debt market. This borrowing is intended to finance the deficit in the 2025 budget.

The President emphasized that the funds will help bridge the fiscal gap and ensure full implementation of government programs and projects planned for the year 2025.

Following the submission, the Senate President referred the borrowing request to the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debt, chaired by Senator Aliyu Wammako of Sokoto North. The committee has been given one week to review the request and report back for further legislative action.
