Tinubu felicitates Florence Ita Giwa at 80, Anyim Pius Anyim at 65

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to former Senator Florence Ita Giwa on her 80th birthday and to former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim on his 65th birthday.

In a goodwill message, the President congratulated Senator Ita Giwa, describing her as a resilient and courageous political figure whose decades of service contributed significantly to Nigeria’s democratic development.

Ita Giwa represented Cross River South Senatorial District in the Senate from 1999 to 2003, and previously served in the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1993.

She also served as the National Republican Convention (NRC) chairman in Delta State during the Third Republic.

President Tinubu noted that the former senator, fondly known as Mama Bakassi for her passionate advocacy for the Bakassi people, charted a less-travelled path for women in politics and helped break barriers in public service.

He commended her contributions to law-making, policy advocacy and the broader political evolution of the country, joining her family, friends and associates in celebrating the milestone.

The President prayed for her continued good health, strength and fulfilment in the years ahead.

Similarly, Tinubu congratulated Chief Anyim Pius Anyim on his 65th birthday, describing him as a steadfast and influential figure in Nigeria’s political landscape since 1998.

He praised Anyim’s tenure as President of the Senate, noting his resolve to defend the integrity of the National Assembly, even when it required taking difficult, unpopular positions.

Tinubu also acknowledged Anyim’s service as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, where he contributed to reform efforts and promoted unity and national development.

Describing him as an exemplary leader and a believer in Nigeria’s promise, the President wished Anyim good health and renewed strength, emphasising the need for patriots committed to peace, progress and development.
