Tinubu Brokers Rivers State Peace Talks

President Bola Tinubu hosted a reconciliation meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Speaker Martins Amaewhule, and other Rivers State Assembly members attended the closed-door session.

The meeting is not unconnected with political crises in Rivers state and the need to resolving it.

President Tinubu had on March 18, declared a state of emergency, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all the State House of Assembly members.

The emergency rule since then has continued to generate controversies and reactions causing the president to convoke yet another reconciliatory meeting.

OYO NEWS reports, although details of the important meeting has not been made public, Nigerians especially Rivers citizens are optimistic that peace and normalcy will eventually be restored. The emergency rule is expected to end August 2025. OYONEWS
