…..As Provost charges participants to take advantage of initiative

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has concluded a one-week Computer Training Programme (ICDL Intermediate Module) held for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo.

The programme was held between Monday, 17 – Friday, 21 August, 2020 at the College 1000 Systems ICT Centre.

Declaring the training open, the College Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi, fien, fcai, J.P expressed his gladness on the maiden edition of the ICT Training for 77 staff members of the College for part utilization of the year 2016/2017/2018 (merged) TETFUND Intervention in ICT support. According to him, “it gladens my heart to proclaim that this is another giant step at deepening ICT literacy level among staff members of the College. The choice of intermediate module was informed by the fact that computer literacy level of College Staff members had passed the Basic level. Hence, I enjoin you to use this opportunity to take your ICT knowledge and skills to the next level”, he stated.

Speaking further, the Chief Executive recalled how the College Management under his watch, in 2014 TETFUND Intervention, sought and got the assistance of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to put in place a world-class 1000 systems ICT Centre with full complement of intranet and Internet facilities. “I am glad that this training is taking place at the Centre and I can assure you that the available number of computer systems at the College ICT is adequate for maintenance of social distancing during training in line with COVID-19 protocols”, he announced.

According to a press release by the Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Provost, Mr. Wale Adeoye, while urging the participants to be punctual, diligent and use the opportunity of the absence of students on campus to pay adequate attention, the College Helmsman stated that “you will be required to write an online international examination leading to the award of internationally recognized International Certification in Digital Literacy (ICDL) Certificate which can be used to seek for employment anywhere in the world.”

In his concluding remarks, the Provost expressed the appreciation of the Chairman for the 14th Governing Council, Prof. Matthew Odedokun, the College Management, Staff and Students to the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Abuja, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, FNIAS, FSPSP, D.Sc,. Hon., FAS for his undiluted support and for standing by the College at all times in terms of infrastructural development and capacity building strides for noble members of staff of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo since the inception of his administration. He equally appreciated His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Makinde, the visitor to the College, for his uncommon love for the college that had always engendered the good atmosphere to hosting such world – class training workshop at a time like this. The College staff and students will forever be grateful to our amiable and workers- friendly Governor. “On behalf of all in Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, we say thank you, Sir”.
