Terrorists Launch Deadly Attack on Army Base, Kill 4 Soldiers, Injure 5

At least four soldiers have been killed in a deadly Boko Haram attack on a Nigerian army base in the Ngamdu area of Borno State.

A statement released on Friday by Lt. Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, indicated that the terrorists used Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices to target troops and their equipment.

The statement indicated that although the troops responded with intense firepower and caused significant casualties among the terrorists, they unfortunately lost four soldiers in action and five others were injured.

The statement says: “Troops from Operation HADIN KAI successfully thwarted a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu area, thanks to a quick response by ground forces and reinforcement units from the 29 Task Force Brigade.”

The terrorists used Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices to target the troops and their equipment. Despite the fierce assault, the troops stood firm and retaliated with superior firepower causing substantial losses for the attackers. Unfortunately, four of our soldiers were killed in action while five others sustained injuries. Additionally, some Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs) and Gun Trucks experienced various levels of damage during this confrontation.

The terrorists tried to block reinforcements and cause more harm by placing several IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route (MSR). This led to a temporary closure of the route, prompting engineers to quickly address three spots laden with explosives. After successfully clearing these areas, the MSR is now open again for both military and civilian traffic.

Following the attack, troops promptly received resupplies of essential logistics such as MRAP tires and ammunition to maintain operations and restore complete mobility. Reliable intelligence indicates significant terrorist casualties, with reports suggesting that approximately 15 bodies were transported in pushcarts by the terrorists for burial near Bula Wura, close to Wasaram.

To strengthen its dominance in the region, 29 Task Force Brigade has initiated combat patrols and follow-up operations to restrict terrorists’ movements and solidify their strategic advantages.

The bravery and resilience of the troops have been praised, and the public is assured that normalcy will continue as operations are ongoing to maintain peace and security in the area.
