The Legislative Arm of Surulere Local Government has suspended the vice chairman of Surulere Local Government and political head, Surulere South LCDA, Hon Maruf Gbadamosi.
Gbadamosi was suspended during a plenary session which took place in the early hours of Friday at Oluwakemi Alao-Akala Legislative Chambers of the local government secretariat, Iresaadu, Oyo State.
While moving the motion for his suspension, the Majority leader, Kareem Babatunde Sulaimon from Igbon/Gambari ward accused the vice chairman of fraudulent duplication and selling of rate receipts for personal enrichment.
Gbadamosi was also alleged of non-attendance of security meetings for years despite receiving funds to that effect.
Gbadamosi was also accused of negligence, auctioning of council government vehicles and tractors to self through surrogates and shabby implementation of projects.
Other offences include selling of government’s property without due process, abuse of office, hijacking of government contracts in contravention to the constitution, shabby dealings leading to incessant police invitations, arrests and detentions despite being the occupant of official position which goes with integrity and respect.
Gbadamosi also allegedly abandoned the official secretariat and turning his residential room to operational office for months.
Others are high handedness leading to exodus of staff to other local government areas of the State and zero accountability on implemented projects.
Hon. Odedeji Ezekiel Oluwaseun from Iregba ward 06 seconded the motion to suspend the Hon. Maruf Gbadamosi indefinitely.
The House leader, Surulere Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon. Ibitoye Simeon who presided over the plenary called for the adoption of suspension and subjected it to voting, all the ten councillors in attendance voted in support of the motion calling for the indefinite suspension of Hon. Maruf Gbadamosi as the vice chairman of Surulere Local Government and the political head of Surulere South LCDA.
The House leader therefore ruled for the indefinite suspension of Hon. Gbadamosi Maruf.
