The Seyi Makinde led administration has been said to have transformed Oyo State to an enviable position through the commitment to its 5-point agenda of health care delivery, education, agriculture, physical infrastructure, security and staff- welfarism which were demonstrated in the increase of approved monthly gratuity from #100Million to #180Million on his assumption of office.
This disclosure was made by the newly appointed Commissioner for Establishments and Training , Alhaji ‘Siju Lawal while performing his first duty by declaring open a 9-month Basic Course in Secretarial Studies with Computer Appreciation, held at Simeon Adebo Staff Development Center, Secretariat Ibadan on Thursday.
According to Alh. Lawal, this administration has improved the lives of citizens through overhauling of education at public schools, approval of qualitative human capacity building workshops and seminar’s for different categories of workers to enable them discharge their duties effectively and compete with their counterparts in other sectors.
“The job of a secretary is very crucial and highly required for the smooth running and management of any organisations, therefore the 9-month course is very important in giving participants solid foundation as Secretaries.
“I implore the participants who are drawn from various MDAs and private individuals to make the most of this opportunity , exercise discipline and perseverance as seasoned and competent lecturers of the centre will teach and impact their wealth of knowledge so as to be a better citizen at the end of the duration of the course.”
Earlier in her welcome address , the Director, Management, Secretarial, Computer and Business Studies , Mrs. Stella Okedum stated that the course would empower successful participants who were from the general public to be gainfully employed, thereby reducing unemployment and social vices.
The Commissioner thereafter toured the centre and promised that the ongoing renovation at the center would be sped up in order to restore the center to it’s former glory.
