
Shooting Stars Mourn Peter Rufai, Commiserate With Family
Ibadan-based Shooting Stars Football club, has joined the entire football family in mourning the sudden and painful departure of a legend, Peter Rufai known as ‘Dodo Mayana’.
OYO NEWS reports that Peter Rufai died on Thursday at the age of 61.
A statement by the club’s spokesman, Tosin Omojola on Friday said the legendary goalkeeper was a perfect example of dedication, commitment and loyalty to the country.
Shooting Stars Football club therefore said the news of his death came as a rude shock.
The statement read, “Although he is gone, we will never forget Rufai’s immeasurable contributions to the rise of Nigeria in the round leather game globally, and this, we will continue to cherish even as we mourn his exit.”
“Our condolences go to his immediate and extended family, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as well as the entire Nigerian football community”
“May his soul rest in peace.”
