Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, on Sunday lost 0-1 to Rivers United of Port Harcourt, in a NPFL Matchday 35 encounter.

The match played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, saw the home team scoring the only goal of the game in the 51st minute.

Kazie Eyinnaya’s cross was aided into the net through a slight deflection by Bamidele Ayodeji, leaving goalkeeper Odah Okemute with no chance for a save.

The Ibadan soccer lords had the game under control in the first half, but were unable to make use of the chances that came their way.

With the first half ending goalless, luck smiled on Rivers United six minutes into the start of the second half with Kazie’ cross leading to the scrappy goal.

Substitute, Lawal Abdullahi, who came in for Alex Aghahowa in the first half, almost restored parity but had his glancing header missing the target , no thanks to a slight touch by United goalkeeper, Abiodun Akande which directed the ball off the target.

Despite the loss, 3SC remained on the fourth position with 56 points from 35 matches and will welcome old rivals and league leaders, Rangers International of Enugu in a Matchday 36 fixture billed for Wednesday.
