Sex drive among teenagers is alarming, says actress Juliana Olayode

Nollywood actress and content creator, Juliana Olayode, has raised alarm over what she described as the growing sexual activity among teenagers, saying the situation is both shocking and heartbreaking.

The 30-year-old actress, popularly known as Toyo Baby in the comedy series “Jenifa’s Diary”, made the remarks in a lengthy Instagram post shared on Friday, where she called out the moral decay among Nigerian youth.

According to her, recent conversations and confessions from teenagers have left her disturbed.

She said many of the things young people now say or do are not just inappropriate, but emotionally draining to witness, especially coming from those still in their teenage years.

Olayode condemned the popular narrative that young people should “enjoy life and make mistakes,” stating that such thinking should not include engaging in sexual activities.

“Whilst some people would say, enjoy your life while you’re young, make all the mistakes you want now, I don’t think that includes sexu@lly,” she wrote.

“S€x and other sexu@l activities is for MARRIED people. I can write an epistle about this.”

The actress described sex as spiritual and warned against reducing it to just pleasure. She said no one is speaking enough about the spiritual consequences, especially among teenagers who have been misled by online content.

She further stated, “The sex drive amongst teenagers these days is alarming, it often breaks my heart and keeps me wondering who lied to them.”

Olayode, who is also a speaker and author, recalled how her upbringing shaped her boundaries, stressing that her mother’s teachings still guide her decisions.

“There are certain things I still cannot do now, I keep hearing my mother’s voice in my head. If we are not more intentional about the way we raise our children, we would not be happy about the kind of adults this generation would produce,” she added.

Citing Proverbs 22:6, the actress reminded parents to train up their children properly, saying too much freedom could be destructive.

She urged adults to stop liking or supporting immoral content on social media, adding that engagement on such posts equals endorsement.

“Incase you don’t know, your like or comment in any post is another way of saying I approve of this/I support this,” she warned.
