*Orders immediate payment of outstanding salaries, allowances
The Supreme Court on Friday over-ruled the sack of former Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, under the aegis Association of Local Government of Nigeria.
Recall that, the chairmen were sacked by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Government in the State led by Engineer Seyi Makinde.
However, the Court refused to grant the Chairmen tenure extension, upholding that their tenure ends on May 12.
The case was instituted by the State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) led by Prince Ayodeji against the judgement of the Appeal Court which favoured the Seyi Makinde-led administration.
The apex court, in its judgement, noted that the the tenures of the sacked Council chairmen and Councillors have expired but all outstanding salaries and allowances must be paid with immediate effect.
