Officials of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, arrested 26 suspected criminals and rescued two robbery victims.


This was disclosed in a statement on the official X handle of the RRS on Saturday.

According to the statement, the arrest followed the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, to the RSS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, “to step up surveillance and arrest criminals in some black spots within the metropolis”.

The statement partly read, “Around 11:38 p.m. on Thursday, operatives of Rapid Response Squad combing Olusosun, Ojota, uncompleted buildings in Otedola Bridge and Kurata, all notorious for being criminals den, arrested 26 suspects and rescued two robbery victims in MKO Garden, Ojota.

“After a thorough screening of the suspects by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, 16 persons were released to their relatives, while 10 suspects are to be charged to court.”

PUNCH Online reported on January 21 that the state Commissioner of Police had promised to rid the state of criminals when the command arrested three suspected cultists in the Ishashi area of the state.

The command, on Wednesday, also arrested a suspected cult leader whose gang attempted to forcefully take over a tricycle park in the Fadeyi area of the state.
