The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspects, Chinonso Eze and Victory Ebomuche, aged 18 and 24, over criminal conspiracy, identity theft, and computer-related fraud at their residence in Agua Marina Estate, Apo, FCT Abuja.
This was made known in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, shared on the force X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
The statement, in part, said, “Our team of investigators diligently gathered evidence and conducted comprehensive inquiries, leading to the arrest of these suspects.
This operation unveiled a complex network of cybercriminal activities, primarily focused on romance scams and fraudulent online investments.
“These activities not only exploit individuals but also pose a significant cybersecurity threat to our nation. As part of our ongoing efforts, we have identified potential victims linked to these suspects and are actively working to mitigate immediate and future cyber threats.
“Following the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will face charges in court.”
