The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has commenced the fourth phase of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) enrollment program.
The agency said the program aims to provide essential healthcare services to vulnerable groups across the state.
The initiative is part of the Agency’s commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all residents under the scheme.
The enrollment process, which began on Monday, August 19, 2024, and concluded on Monday, September 9, 2024, was initially focused on Ibadan.
However, the enrollment drive will continue for residents outside Ibadan from Monday, September 30, 2024, to Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Dr. Sola Akande, Executive Secretary of OYSHIA, highlighted the significance of the BHCPF program in achieving universal health coverage in Oyo State.
He emphasized the Agency’s dedication to enrolling vulnerable populations, including children under five, pregnant women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, to improve their well-being.
Since inception of the BHCPF program, OYSHIA has successfully enrolled a total of 64,044 lives.
The program, funded by the Federal Government, offers essential healthcare services to enrolled beneficiaries.
He said, Oyo State, having met the necessary requirements, has been allocated a dedicated fund to support this initiative.
Dr. Akande also announced the local government areas to be visited during the upcoming enrollment phase outside Ibadan, including Afijio, Atisbo, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, Iseyin, Kajola, Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North, Atiba, Oyo East, Saki West, and Saki East, among others.
He urged all eligible beneficiaries to take advantage of the scheme by enrolling and utilizing the healthcare services available to them. Dr. Akande emphasized the importance of responsible use of the scheme to maximize its impact.
