The Oyo State Government has set a target of installing 100KW Solar Hybrid mini grid project of renewable energy capacity by the year 2021, as part of the Economic Sustainability Plan.

The disclosure was contained in an address by Governor Seyi Makinde at the commissioning of a similar project in Itesiwaju Local Government on Saturday,  November 28, 2020.

The Governor who was represented by Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Seun Ashamu at Budo-Are community, Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Oyo State said the project was facilitated under the Rural Electrification Fund.

He said, considering the fact that most Nigerians are not even connected to electricity at all, installing solar power in the state is a better option for electricity in the state.

He reassured private firms of a regulatory support from the present administration in Oyo State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

He also said the State Government is providing enabling environment for those in the private sector to execute such projects.

He promised the present administration’s readiness to change the face of rural electrification in Oyo State Government through solar energy.
