Says he’s a round peg in a round hole
Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter has eulogized the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for appointing a former Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly Honourable Olatunde Olaniyan as Sole Administrator of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).
The appointment of the new 3SC Sole Administrator was announced on Friday afternoon via a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun.
And in a congratulatory message signed by Oyo SWAN Chairman Mr Niyi Alebiosu and the Association’s Secretary, Adewale Tijani, the body of sports journalists in the Pacesetter State described the appointment of Hon Olaniyan popularly known as Akoro as the best decision for the Oluyole Warriors.
“Akoro’s appointment is right and highly commendable. His wealth of experience as a former footballer and referee makes him very suitable for this post. He is a round peg in a round hole.
Aside being a former state lawmaker, the sports loving politician had also been the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Oyo State House of Assembly. He is also the Oyo State Chairman of Nigeria Referees Association.
Oyo SWAN recalled that Honourable Olaniyan, who owns a prestigious referee academy, is a die hard fan of 3SC who has been supporting the club with his resources and positions.
The Association tasked the new Sole Administrator of Shooting Stars Sports Club, who is a graduate of Kinetics and Health Education at the University of Ibadan, to use his wealth of experience and wide connections among sports administrators in the country to reposition the football club and return it to its former glorious place among African giants.
While congratulating Honourable Olaniyan on his new appointment, the leadership of Oyo SWAN assured the helmsman of Oluyole Warriors of the co-operation of sports journalists in the state.
The Association advised him to bring along the team’s supporters and ex players in all decisions he is making for the club.
“The task ahead are enormous but are not insurmountable. However, Honourable Akoro should be mindful of the feelings of the teeming supporters and ex players of 3SC whose works had elevated the team in the past. He should therefore seek their supports so that he can succeed”, Oyo SWAN counselled the new 3SC Sole Administrator.
