Oyo Labour Union protesters who are Muslims on Friday observed their Juma’at prayers at State Secretariat gate, Ibadan.

OYO NEWS gathered that the protesters observed the Friday prayers on the road at about 1:30 p.m.

At the Juma’at service held at secretariat road in Agodi, some Christian protesters watched on while others provided cover for the praying Muslims.

During the prayer session, other protest activities were suspended.

One of the worshippers at Secretariat, said the Imam preached about sacrifice and love.

“The Imam spoke briefly about sacrifice and love. He also encouraged us to persevere and pray for our leaders. We also prayed for Nigeria’s progress. After our prayers, everybody, including some Christians, chorused ‘aamin’,” he added.

There have been protests by workers since Monday, who called for payment of deductions, accusing the State Governor, Seyi Makinde of ignoring their agitation.

On Tuesday, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Administration, Idowu Ogedengbe was booed by the workers after he attempted to address them.

Despite the Executive Assistant’s attempted intervention, the protesters presented some demands to the Oyo State Government, asking Governor Makinde to address them himself.

The campaigners’ demands include release of all deductions by the Oyo State Government; review of salaries by the Oyo State Government; and an address by Governor Seyi Makinde.
