Oyo Police Recovers Stolen Vehicle in Anti-Robbery Operation

The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle- a silver Toyota Corolla Sport, registered as LSR 893CX in Lagos.

According to a statement obtained by OYO NEWS from the Public Relations Officer,  CSP Wale Osifeso, the operation is part of the Command’s ongoing initiative to address armed robbery incidents specifically targeting Uber drivers in the state.

According to him, in recent weeks, there has been an alarming rise in reports of armed robbers attacking Uber drivers at gunpoint, resulting in the theft of their vehicles and cash.

In light of the troubling trend, the Oyo State Police Command escalated the investigation from the Iyaganku Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough inquiry and prompt intervention.

The dedicated Anti-Robbery Squad took immediate action by utilizing both intelligence gathering and on-the-ground operations.

Osifeso said, “Through extensive surveillance and tracking efforts, officers successfully located and recovered the stolen Toyota Corolla. This prompt recovery underscores the unwavering commitment of the Oyo State Police to safeguard the well-being of all residents and visitors.”

“The recovery of the stolen vehicle reflects our determination to confront crime proactively,” stated the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State. “We are dedicated to protecting our citizens and ensuring that those responsible for these criminal acts are brought to justice.”
