The annual press week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, kicked-off today, Saturday, November 28th 2020 and would end Friday, December 11, 2020.
A statement signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Demola Babalola and Secretary, Comrade Sola Oladapo, said the week commenced with Public lecture on Saturday, November 28, 2020, while a Church Thanksgiving service will be hosted by Dr. Olusola Ayandele at Methodist Church, Idere.
The Opening ceremony and investiture of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde as the Grand Patron of the Union is scheduled to hold on Monday November 30. 2020.
The statement also read that a public lecture to be delivered by the Executive Chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande would come up on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
The grand finale featuring award presentation, table tennis match among members of the council at the press center, has been fixed for December 4th 2020, beginning from 10.00 am at the Press centre, Ibadan.
Concluding the Press week, Muslim faithful will be hosted by the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alh. Makanjuola Akinola on Friday, Dec. 11 2020.
The Chairman, Comrade Demola Babalola enjoined well-meaning Nigerians to contribute to the Journalists’ Trust Fund, a brain-child of his administration which intends to cater for the welfare of journalists in the state.
The statement calls on all members and friends of the union to participate actively in the week’s activities and kindly make their donations to enable journalists in Oyo State have a place to practice their trade.
