As part of activities marking its 2022 Press week, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, on Tuesday held a Fitness Walk.

The Walk tagged, “Fitness to Walk” kicked off at about 8 am from the Council’s premises on Iyaganku road.

Addressing participants at Recreation club, Mokola, the Chairman, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Demola Babalola said the walk was part of activities earmarked to mark this year’s Press week.

According to him, the press week is a time for journalists to brainstorm on crucial issues of national interest and take part in physical exercise to improve on healthy living.

The Chairman, while welcoming participants for turning out for the exercise, said the essence of the walk was “to draw attention of Nigerians to the activities of Journalists in the State.

The Chairman noted that the union, under his leadership has made tremendous progress in the past three years.

He observed that “though, the Union is not there yet, we are matching towards our destination.”

He enjoined all to “support democracy and good governmence through fair reportage of activities in the State”.

Speaking further, he said the welfare of members and veterans remain paramount to the union, under his leadership.

Babalola said: “Our welfare for elders and members is superb. We love them and we are enjoying very smooth and cordial relationship with all elders in the Oyo council. We have taken the issues of welfare of our members as a top priority.

“We are also keeping them abreast of all we are doing and they are happy with us. We have received their blessings. They are always on our list. We need them around to advise us and to guide us aright.”
