Ogunsanya Christianah, a wrestling athlete from Oyo State won a gold medal at the African Championship held on the 15th the to 21st May, 2023 at Hammernet in Tunisia.
The 2023 Senior, Junior and Cadet African Wrestling Championship is the 38th edition of African Wrestling Championship of combined event that took place in the Hammarnet Indoor Sports Hall.
Earlier, the 21 year old athlete won Silver medal in the last 2022 National Sports Festival held in Asaba.
She participated in the 50 kg female wrestling category and also clinched Gold medal in the 53kg female Wrestling in the national wrestling at the national Wrestling Federation invitational held in Bayelsa State as from 15th to 18th April, 2023
During the trial competitions, Team Nigeria secured the overall female category with six Gold meds and 4 silver medals.
The 2023 World Wrestling Championships will be held from 16 to 24 September 2023 Belgrade, Serbia. OYO NEWS
