A gubernatorial aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Saheed Oladele has resigned from the party, declaring that the structure in the state is unwilling to give young people meaningful roles in decision-making.

In a resignation letter dated April 7, 2026 and addressed to the Chairman of Ward 4, Ibadan North Local government, the politician said he was leaving the APC after years of loyalty, service and contribution to party growth since its inception.

He recalled his efforts as a former gubernatorial aspirant, noting that he worked to build unity, strengthen the party’s internal structures and advance a common vision for the progress of Oyo State.

He also highlighted his role in championing the Youth O’Clock movement, describing himself as a bridge between the older generation of party leaders and younger members seeking innovation, relevance and political inclusion.

According to him, recent developments within the Oyo APC show that the party “is not yet prepared to give young people a seat at the decision-making table, but rather prefers to engage them as instruments without corresponding influence,” a position he said contradicts his values and aspirations for the state.

While expressing appreciation for the opportunities the party provided, he stated that his loyalty to the service of the masses supersedes allegiance to any political system that does not prioritise public interest.

Oladele thanked leaders, stakeholders and colleagues for their support over the years, adding that he remains committed to the unity and development of Oyo State and Nigeria, even outside the APC.
