The decision to organise the workshop for the lawmakers is to broaden the minds of the legislators on legislative agenda, the procedures and processes as well as to remind them of the primary needs of their people.

The lawmakers were led to Akwa-Ibom by the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin.

The workshop organised in collaboration with the Center for Legislative Advancement and Support was themed “Understanding Critical Processes, Practices and Procedures of the legislature and the application of Responsive Budget and Appropriation Mechanism for Effective Service Delivery”

While declaring the retreat open, Ogundoyin told his colleagues and other participants that the platform provided another opportunity for them to be well groomed in the processes, practices and procedures of legislative duty as it concerns budget analyses, processes, amendments and passage.

OYO NEWS reports that Ogundoyin charged the lawmakers to see themselves as trustees of the entire state.

“To work well, government requires a bond of trust between citizens and their representatives”, he said.

“This will enable us to make impactful contributions and beneficial legislations that will enhance the delivery of democratic dividends to all the thirty-two State Constituencies of the Oyo State House of Assembly”.
