Osun State Government has announced implementation of the new minimum wage for Osun workers, adding that it would commence November 1, 2020.

The Governor of State of Osun, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola stated this through his verified social media handles over the weekend.

He said, this follows the perusal of the recommendations of Goernment/Labour Committee set up to work out modalities for resolving all workers’ welfare-related issues.

“Additionally, we have lifted the ban on Annual Salary Increment which was done in 2012. Embargo on promotions and conversions is also lifted with immediate effect. This is in fulfilment of our Administration’s pledge to give the welfare of our workers the deserved attention”, he said.

While appreciating Labour leaders and the entire workforce in Osun, who he described as “allies in the race to deliver stellar services to our people”, for their selflessness, understanding, perseverance and love for State, he also appealed to workers to reciprocate Government’s gestures with increased and efficient service delivery.

“You’re the reasons why, in spite of the economic storms, Osun still remains strong and outstanding in the comity of States”, he wrote.

Concluding, Governor Oyetola wrote, “We all know that Osun is passing through the valley of economic challenges and we’ve proven every inch of the way that we’re stronger than the storm. I therefore appeal to our workers to recipocrate our gestures by ensuring increased productivity and efficient service delivery to the people of Osun”.
