Osimhen undergoes successful wrist surgery

Galatasaray of Turkey has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen had a successful surgery on his wrist.

Osimhen sustained the injury last week during Galatasaray’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The striker returned to Nigeria for five days before going back to Turkey on Sunday to undergo surgery on his wrist, a development Galatasaray confirmed in a report on its official website.

“Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue playing in our away match against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce,” the report read.

“We send our best wishes to our player and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible.”

It is still unknown for how long Osimhen will be missing from competitive football action but there are speculations that the 27-year-old could be out for between three and four months.
