The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon and Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Francis Alao, has said the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde and his wife are to be honoured with chieftaincy titles.

The Royal father while speaking with journalists, said that the conferment of chieftaincy titles on the duo is in appreciation of the Governor’s sterling leadership qualities and roles in human development.

Oba Alao said his community, in recognition of the attributes, would on Saturday, confer Aare Onile-Igbon of Igbon Land on Gov. Makinde, while his wife, Engr. Tamunominini will receive the title, Yeye Are Onile Igbon of Igbon Land.

The monarch said eminent personalities and traditional leaders, would be in the ancient Orile-Igbon community to be part of the ceremony.

The traditional ruler said the exploits of the governor and his wife as philanthropists and advocate of good governance, could never go unnoticed.

“This is one of the ways of showing appreciation to the Governor for the wonderful job he is doing in Oyo state and also to encourage him to do more”, he said.

“Governor Seyi Makinde is doing wonderful well as the Governor of Oyo State. That is why the people of Ile-Igbon are honouring him with the chieftaincy title of Are Onile Igbon of Igbon Land and his wife, Yeye Are Onile Igbon of Igbon Land.”

When asked about the recently passed Oyo state chieftaincy amendment, Olugbon of Ile-Igbon said that he is fully in support of the amendment.

Recall that Oba Francis Alao, urged to House of Assembly to exercise caution regarding the proposed amendment to the Chiefs Law of Oyo State.

In a memorandum submitted to the public hearing by the Oyo State House of Assembly, the monarch prior to passing of Law, expressed concern that the amendment may lead to unnecessary communal clashes and border disputes.

He also urged Nigerians to bear with the federal government on the issue of subsidy, saying that President Bola Tinubu means well for Nigerians.
