The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, on Friday installed Alhaji Yekini Abass, as the Babaloja of Ibadanland.
While observing the traditional rite on the new Babaloja, the Olubadan noted that considering the contributions of the new Babaloja to the development of Oyo state, he was the right and credible individual to lead traders in the state.
He further said the newly installed Babaloja was lucky to be installed at the time he (Olubadan) was celebrating his birthday, adding that the installation was a success for the entire people of the state.
Speaking further, the Olubadan prayed for the pecaeful coexistence of traders in Ibadan land, Oyo state and Nigeria as a whole as he takes over the mantle of leadership in Oyo state.
Reacting to the installation, the newly installed Babaloja, Alhaji Yekini Abass praised Governor Seyi Makinde for allowing traders to operate during the covid-19 pandemic lockdown, saying the governor did not allow traders to suffer during the difficult time.
He also commended all the royal fathers in Oyo state, especially the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji for his fatherly role in ensuring that Ibadan land is progressing during his time.
Abass therefore assured the government, people of the state, and the traders that he won’t discriminate against anyone, urging traders to keep observing covid-19 protocol as outlined by the government at all levels.
At the installation ceremony which took place at the popoyemoja palace of the monarch are: Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun, Balogun of Ibadan land, High Chief Owolabi Olakunleyin, Otun Balogun, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola and High chief Eddy Oyewele.
Others are: Asipa Balogun of Ibadan land, High chief Gbadamosi Adebimpe, Ekerin Balogun, High Chief Kola Adegbolad, Ekerin Balogun, Olubunmi Osioye, Ekerin Balogun Ekarun Olubadan, High Chief Amidu Ajibade, and Ekarun Balogun of Ibadan land, High Chief Azeez Agagagugu.
