Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin yesterday announced the appointment of Prince Bayo Olaniyan, as his Chief of Staff.

According to Ogundoyin, Prince, who is from the ruling House of Akalako in Eruwa was a former Personal Assistant to the late Speaker of the 8th Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Michael Adeyemo.

The Speaker, in a post on his verified social media handles congratulated Olaniyan on his new appointment.

Later in the afternoon yesterday, Olaniyan formally accepted his appointment letter as the Chief of Staff to the Speaker.

In a brief statement, Olaniyan appreciated Mr. Speaker for finding him worthy, saying his years’ experience in Politics and academics, equips him for the task ahead.

The new CoS to the Speaker, is an age-long associate of Ogundoyin, and both have maintained the brotherly relationship on a steady course.

His primary duty as Chief of Staff is to act as the principal aide to the Speaker.

He will serve as a key liaison between the Speaker and other government officials, political leaders, and stakeholders.

Often regarded as the ‘gatekeeper’, the Chief of Staff does not hold direct constitutional powers.

Yet, the influence and impact of the office on decision-making processes cannot be underestimated.

“Aside from being a politician of repute, Prince is also an Academic who holds two Masters degree”, Ogundoyin said.

“I am convinced Prince will bring his political, legislative and administrative experiences to bear in his new office”, he concluded.
