The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, has joined the race of president of Conference of Speakers in Nigeria.
OYO NEWS exclusively learnt that Ogundoyin was in Osun State, on Tuesday, to meet with the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
He harped on the need for Legislators to ensure unity of purpose and cohesion, stressing the importance of a robust legislative agenda which will accelerate development in South-West zone.
In Ekiti State, as part of his consultation for his aspiration, Ogundoyin stressed the need for legislators to put party affiliations aside and promote uniformity of purpose and ideas towards building a vibrant legislative institution in the Southwest.
He was received by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye.
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin noted that before now, there was not a strong collaboration among State Assemblies in the South West, hence his visit was meant to open a channel of communication that will lead to exchange of notes and cross fertilization of ideas.
Ogundoyin said, “In the course of our discussions, It came to the fore that the immediate past Assemblies in the two States (Ekiti & Oyo) were able to pass the same number of Bills (97 each). This to me is a good omen which means we can all set or agree on a benchmark for legislative performance in the Southwest”.
Ogundoyin’s consultation has taken him to Ondo and Akwa-ibom states.
