The Ogun State Government has assured that small business owners to expect more economic-oriented schemes and initiatives that will take their business activities to a higher level.
This assurance was given by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Oluyemisi Dawodu, during her visit to Oba Lipede Market, Kuto and June 12 Market, Panseke, both in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Dawodu, who held meetings with the leadership of the two markets, where they mentioned their areas of needs, said that the Governor has been so concerned about the well-being and welfare of small business owners, which according to her, informed the lofty moves such as Oko’wo Dapo and the promotion of the Ogun State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (OG-CARES), among others.
She said that apart from creatng a conducive environment for business to thrive, the government will in no small measure attend to as many as possible in the list of the needs of the various state-owned markets in order of priority, enjoining them to pay their rent promptly in order to further help the government do its obligations.
“Fortunately for them, only this morning, the Governor asked for an update on some of the issues they raised. This is an indication that His Excellency is interested in their matter and that work is going on behind the scene. They should be rest assured that things will change.
“Small businesses are very paramount to this government. There are many programmes in the background which are being planned to boost their activities. The Oko’wo Dapo and OG-Cares are good examples. Small business owners are in for a great time in Ogun State,” she stated.
In their separate remarks, Iyaloja, Oba Lipede Market, Kuto, Chief Mrs. Tejumade Adenekan- Bakre and her counterpart at June 12 Market, Panseke, commended the government for its efforts so far, just as they prayed for divine wisdom for the Governor and his aides to achieve their dream for the state.
